Montroyal Fire Hall No. 3

Johnston Davidson Architecture + Planning Inc. developed the design for an addition and renovation to the existing Montroyal Fire Hall No.3 in the District of North Vancouver. Sustainable measures and design objectives were implemented to reuse the existing building foundation in order to keep the same footprint and to respect the context of the neighbourhood's modern "west coast" style. This cedar siding is a locally sourced and milled product, installed with local labour, and embraces BC's wood first principles. A commitment was made to minimize the building's energy and water consumption. Energy targets were achieved through the use of renewable energy systems such as a solar thermal domestic hit water generation system.
