Oyster River Fire Hall

The single storey fire hall was designed with an entirely wood structure incorporating large glulam beams, purlins and exposed plywood to create two large roofs which resembling the wings of a large bird and the oyster river fire department emblem. Brightly colored metal cladding announces the fire hall to the street while maintaining a relationship with the regional character and highlighting the wood detailing. This unique fire hall was featured in a Canadian Wood Council brochure stressing the use of wood in post disaster protective services buildings.
