I grew up:
In Vancouver.
Education:
Bachelor of Architectural Science, BCIT
I’m drawn to design because:
Of the satisfaction of combining form and function.
I’m most excited in architecture today about:
The convergence between sustainability, parametric design and prefabrication.
Favorite space:
My backyard and studio. It’s a work in progress that provides me with a space to unwind and also serves as an outlet for projects I want to try.
Preferred era in architecture:
I’ve got a soft spot for Art Deco’s combination of the industrial and the classical, and the Marine Building is one of my favorite buildings in Vancouver.
A space that has affected me:
The Sagrada Familia. Walking around inside, even with hundreds of people around, it was a powerful space to experience.
Material that excites me:
Engineered mass timber, terracotta and stainless steel.
I chose Vancouver because:
It has a bit of everything, and even though I’ve lived here most of my life it feels like there are still many things yet to explore.
Dream commission:
An art gallery or museum.
