Intern Architect

We are looking for an energetic, keen and enthusiastic intern architect who is looking to gain experience in construction administration across a variety of projects in a studio setting. This is your chance to learn and participate in all aspects of this key phase of a project process and increase your experience working on institutional and public projects.

This is a full-time position. Candidates will have an interest in working as part of a team, a strong work ethic and share a keen interest in the pursuit of architectural challenges. We are specifically seeking a new team member with studio experience who is proficient in Revit.

Qualifications

Candidates must be able to legally work in Canada, have a degree from a recognized university and have experience as outlined below:

  • M.Arch. degree from an institution recognized by AIBC / CACB
  • Already registered with AIBC as an Intern or have the ability to become registered as an Intern
  • Previous architectural office experience is an asset but not a requirement
  • Experience in the creation of contract and bidding documents for civic and institutional projects
  • Knowledge of the BC Building Code
  • Proficiency in Revit Architecture 2018 or better is required, including but not limited to the tasks as outlined below:
    • Experience in the development of working drawings using Revit
    • Ability to modify the properties of the model in a timely manner while respecting the multiple-user, work-sharing process characteristic of Revit
    • Seamless transition from Revit to Sketchup and Autocad and vice-versa
  • Extensive knowledge and job-related experience with the following additional computer programs: Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Sketch-up Pro, including experience in architectural rendering

At the time of interview, candidates will be expected to show work samples and demonstrate experience with submission documents. Salary range is dependent upon demonstrated experience.

Organization Description: Johnston Davidson Architecture and Planning Inc. is an established design firm located in Vancouver, BC, with a strong interest in sustainable design. We are currently undergoing a search for qualified, energetic and enthusiastic people to join our team. JDA offers the successful applicant an opportunity to grow within the context of a design oriented smaller firm with a track record for interesting and challenging projects.

Description: Candidates must be able to legally work in Canada, have a degree from a recognized University and have experience as outlined below.

Status: Full time position. Candidates with enthusiasm for working as part of a team, a good work ethic and will share a keen interest in the pursuit of architectural challenges and transfer of knowledge to accommodate a full time position. We are specifically looking for a new team member with office experience and who is proficient in REVIT, with experience using REVIT in a project based application for phases from Schematic Design through to Construction Documentation and Construction Administration.

Qualifications: M. Arch. in Architecture and/or an institution recognized by the AIBC / CACB. Already registered with the AIBC or have the ability to be eventually be registered within the Province of British Columbia. 3 years minimum architectural office experience – including the following: Experience in the creation of contract and bidding documents for civic and institutional projects. Applicants will be expected to provide examples of their work. Experience in working on LEED projects and in sustainable design. Knowledge of the BC Building Code. LEED Certification is an asset. Proficiency in REVIT or better is required including but not limited to the tasks as outlined below: Experience in the development of working drawings using REVIT. Use of 3rd party software to produce presentation materials intended for client’s review or promotional purposes. Providing technical support for staff having issues with Sketchup or REVIT digital modeling. Extensive knowledge and job related experience with the following additional computer programs: Adobe – InDesign, Photoshop and Sketchup Pro. This should include experience in architectural rendering. Applicants will be asked to provide examples of their work. Salary range is dependent upon demonstrated experience.
